Something New…

Although I am still very passionate about copper enameling, I have recently begun making silver clay jewelry as well. It is .999 fine silver which has been ground into a powder and incorporated into a putty-like medium that can be texturized, sculpted and generally manipulated. Once a piece is bone dry, it is fired in the kiln (the same one I use for copper enameling, just at a different setting). During the firing, the putty is burned away, leaving the silver piece behind. The piece must then be polished to bring out the shine of the silver. I use a jewelry tumbler.
